It all started many years ago when our CEO and founder's mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Alzheimer's is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person's memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. As Alzheimer's progresses, individuals typically experience changes in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation, as well as delusions or hallucinations. All in all, there is no remission, it just steadily gets worse.
His father did a great job taking care of her in the early stages. It eventually took its toll on him and the rest of the family. Well, the inevitable happened and his mother was put in a nursing home. We knew that day would come and it came too soon for all of us.
His father went right from taking care of her at home in a setting she was most comfortable with, skipped having a Personal Care Assistant come out to the house, skipped an assisted living home and went right into a full-time nursing home.
That's when we asked the question 'Is this the way it's supposed to be or can we make a difference for others and offer someone a better life experience through their aspirations of what they want?' Hence, Aspirience came to be.
To empower all caregivers to help home care clients dream more, doing more and being more.
Turning aspirations into experiences.
